The Hilarious World of Depression

Depression is a tough thing to experience and a tough thing to talk about. But it does help to talk, to listen to stories, to feel not so alone, to understand what some pretty well-known people have gone through, and to have a few laughs along the way.

The Hilarious World of Depression has won several awards and reached audiences around the world but what’s more important is that it drags the taboo topic of mental health out of the darkness and into the sunlight.

Sleeping with Celebrities

Famous people talk at great length about non-exciting topics in order to put you to sleep, all delivered by John with his most “1970s NPR jazz station announcer” voice. Movie stars, comedians, top authors, musicians, and public radio anchors join the low-key fun. Part of the Maximum Fun network.

Conversation Parade

On Conversation Parade, Open Mike Eagle and John Moe talk about the characters, story lines and themes in the hit Cartoon Network animated series Adventure Time. John and Mike also talk with the creative forces behind the show, interviewing the actors, storyboard artists, producers and others who make Adventure Time.

Producer

In This Family - active pod I produce for Nexus Family Healing. It’s all about families and mental health. It’s a really good show and serves as a good showcase for what I can do for organizations. I may be doing this one for a while. Hosted by their President/CEO.

Hope & Healing - mostly completed podcast I produced for Children’s Center in Vancouver, WA. Straight up interview show hosted by their executive director. I’m going to make one more episode for them this summer.

Greater We Ascend - non-hosted pod I made for the University of Puget Sound for their capital campaign. I interviewed students, faculty, alums, and staff then edited my own voice out so it comes across as monologue

Our Whitman, My Story- non-hosted pod I made for two seasons with Whitman College. Similar to the Puget Sound one but all students.

You Are Not Alone: Voices of Recovery - series I made for National Alliance on Mental Illness. Took recorded interviews their Chief Medical Officer did as research for a book, turned them into podcasts. I think these were taken down when NAMI got a new comms director. Alas.

The Medical Mind - I produced a few episodes and co-hosted a couple for this series from NAMI and the American Psychiatric Association.
